【Abstract】 Objective To study the effect of long term yoga exercise on estrogen (E2) and bone in osteoporoticwomen. Methods From September 2014 to September 2015, 126 women with osteoporosis in our hospital were select-ed. According to the random number table, the patients were divided into the study group and the control group (n=63 ineach group). Patients in the control group had yoga exercise 3 times a week for 3 months, and those in the study grouphad yoga exercise 4~5 times a week for 6 months. Levels of E2 and bone mineral density (BMD) in the two groups weremeasured before and after exercise. Results The E2 level in the study group after exercise was (163.01±18.14) pmoL/L,as compared with (107.91±17.11) pmol/L in the control group (P<0.05), and the levels after exercise were both signifi-cantly improved compared with those before exercise (P<0.05). The lumbar spine and hip BMD values after exercisewere (0.85±0.11) g/cm2, (0.63±0.11) g/cm2 in the control group, as compared with (0.96±0.28) g/cm2, (0.71±0.17) g/cm2in the study group (P<0.05), and the levels were all significantly improved compared with those before exercise (P<0.05). Conclusion Long term yoga exercise can improve the BMD, reduce bone loss and improve bone health in thepatients with osteoporosis.
