【Abstract】 Objective To analyze the correlation of peptic ulcer with ABO blood type, Helicobacter pylori in-
fection, and Lewis phenotype distribution. Methods Seventy-five patients with peptic ulcer were selected as the ob-
servation group and 75 health adults were enrolled as the control group (with hospitalized time limited from January
2010 to December 2013). The differences of subjects' pylori infection, ABO blood type and Lewis phenotype distribu-
tion between the two groups were analyzed. Results ① There were 26 Le (a+b+) cases in the observation group (ac-
counting for 34.67%), with only 8 in the control group (10.67%), and the difference was statistically significant (P<
0.01); ② In the observation group, the Helicobacter pylori infection rate between patients with different ABO blood
type (type A 57.14%, type B 50%, type O 52.78%, type AB 57.14%) showed no statistically significant difference (P>
0.05); the infection rate of Le (a-b+) patients was 71.79%, which was significantly higher than that of other Lewis phe-
notype, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01). Conclusion There is a certain correlation between
peptic ulcer, Helicobacter pylori infection and Lewis phenotype distribution. People with Le (a+b+) Lewis phenotype
may be at higher risk of peptic ulcer, and people with Le (a-b+) may be at higher risk of Helicobacter pylori infection.
