【Abstract】 Objective To explore the relationship between Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection and the patho-
logic classification of lymphoproliferative disorders in Hainan. Methods In situ hybridization (ISH) for EBV-encod-
ed small RNA (EBER) was performed to detect the infection of EBV in 214 patients, selected from 524 patients with
lymphoproliferative disorders in our hospital in the recent 5 years. The relationship between EBV infection and the
pathologic classification of lymphoproliferative disorders was analyzed. Results The positive cases of EBER in lym-
phoma (157 cases) was 40, with the positive rate of 25.48%, including 4 (3.96%) in 101 cases of B-cell non-Hodgkin
lymphoma (B-NHL), 27 (61.36%) in 44 cases of T-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (T-NHL), and 9 (75%) in 12 cases of
classical Hodgkin lymphoma mixed cellularity (CHL-MC). The positive cases of EBER in lymph node reactive hyper-
plasia (57 of the 199 cases tested) was 3, with the positive rate of 5.26%. Conclusion There is a correlation between
EBV infection and Lymphoma, especially T-cell lymphoma, and also between EBV infection and lymph node reactive
hyperplasia
